Case Study: Simplifying imports into Egypt with our expert IOR services

Released On 17th Nov 2025

Overview

Client: A high-bandwidth data provider

Project value: $150K

Objectives: To provide Importer of Record (IOR) services for a company wanting to ship dedicated servers and switches to Egypt, ensuring seamless importing into one of the world’s most challenging destinations.

The challenge

Historically, importing into Egypt has come with many challenges.

The customs clearance process involves strict requirements and complex documentation – including letters from the bank and attested Certificates of Origin (COOs). Even the smallest error can cause significant customs delays.

Our client, a provider that delivers hundreds of petabytes to global businesses daily, needed to import high value networking goods into Egypt and required an experienced Importer of Record capable of handling the country’s demanding procedures.

We were brought in to manage the entire import process and ensure full regulatory compliance.

Our solution

Working alongside our dedicated agent in Egypt, we created a tailored import plan to maintain full visibility and control throughout the customs clearance process.

We provided accurate pricing including duties and taxes estimations as well as up-to-date documentation support, as well as identifying that the declared value of goods would not be accepted by Egyptian Customs.

We therefore advised a new value that aligned with local expectations, which ensured everything was correctly prepared before shipment and avoided any delays or rejections.

To maintain complete control over the shipment, we also arranged the collection of goods from the client’s site using a trusted freight forwarding service.

Once the shipment reached Egypt, we provided the client with clear and accurate time frames at every stage of the customs clearance process:

  • Customs inspection – 2-3 working days
  • NTRA approval – 2-3 working days
  • Form4 approval – 1 working day
  • Price inspection – 1 working day
  • Finalised and shipment released – 7 working days

The results

With our involvement and support, all customs and regulatory requirements were met without issue and the shipment was cleared in the exact timeframes we provided.

Our clear communication and expert guidance gave the client complete trust in the process and, as a result, the end user received their technology safely, smoothly and on time.
