Case Study: Mouse & Bear help Value Added Reseller (VAR) import servers and switches into Kazakhstan
Client: Value Added Reseller (VAR)
Project value: $68,000
Objectives: Successfully navigating customs documentation and delivering imported data centre servers and switches to multiple sites in Kazakhstan
The challenge
As demand for data centres grows, Kazakhstan has become a growing location for new digital infrastructure projects. As a result, technology imports into the country have steadily risen.
To keep the deployment of a new data centre on schedule, our client required the quick and seamless importation of data centre servers and switches into Kazakhstan.
However, the importation process involved multiple delivery locations, complex documentation requirements and country-specific approvals. Additionally, many consignees were not aware of the shipments, which created a risk of delays once the goods reached the country.
Mouse & Bear were appointed as the client’s Importer of Record to manage the import process from start to finish and ensure every shipment reached its intended destination without disruption.
Our solution
Our team coordinated the documentation and approvals required for a compliant importation into Kazakhstan. We secured all required documentation, including:
KNB – details the cryptographic capabilities of the electronic product
RGI – needed for dual-use goods and military items
Declaration of Conformity (DoC) – states that a product meets all relevant safety requirements
To simplify delivery across multiple locations and reduce the risk of errors, we marked every box with its individual delivery details before shipment.
We also requested additional contact details from the shipper, project manager and end users to ensure all consignees were aware of the deliveries before arrival and were prepared to receive the equipment.
Once freight arrangements had been finalised, we provided complete customs clearance instructions to allow for a quick and seamless clearance process.
The results
Thanks to our specialist Importer of Record experience and support, the shipment was cleared by customs in less than 48 hours following arrival at the border.
The servers and switches were then successfully delivered to six separate locations within 10 days, with clear communication maintained throughout.
By managing documentation, permits, customs compliance and delivery planning, Mouse & Bear ensured critical infrastructure reached its destination without delay and the deployment of a data centre remained on schedule.
