The challenge

Historically, Oman is a country heavily reliant on oil exports. However, in recent years it has sought to attract more technology business in order to boost its manufacturing, logistics and mining industries.

Our client needed to import a high-value shipment of servers into Oman quickly and compliantly – and required a specialist Importer of Record to do so.

Due to the type of goods being shipped, a ‘Type Approval’ certification was needed to ensure the IT equipment complied with Oman’s safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and environmental regulations. 

However, the additional documents needed for this certification can be hard to obtain and posed difficulties for the client.

So, Mouse & Bear were brought in to handle all the documentation, compliance checks and freight arrangement, in order for the goods to be imported quickly and legally.

Our solution

Our team worked closely with the client to gather all relevant documentation for the Type Approval, including:

• Latest CB safety test report
• Declaration of Conformity
• Photograph of the product label
• Datasheet
• Letter of Declaration from the manufacturer
• COO which needs to be attested by the local chambers of commerce along with the CI and PL

Since the certification needed to be in place before shipment, our specialist agent in Oman applied for the Type Approval well in advance and ensured it was granted before the goods departed.

To maintain complete control of the shipment from departure to delivery, we arranged freight to Oman as well as delivery to the end user once clearance had been completed.

The results

With our support, all required documents were submitted and the Type Approval certification was approved within 2-3 days.

The freight and delivery services were executed without issue and the high-value shipment was imported quickly and cleared at customs without delay.
